Bath Township Fire & EMS Medical Director, Dr. Todd Brookens D.O

Todd Brookens, D.O., is the Medical Director for the Bath Township Fire Department.  He was born and raised in Colorado.  He is married with three children and lives in Monclova, Ohio. His undergraduate studies were at Wheaton College in Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  He attended medical school at the University of Health Sciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, MO and graduated in 1997 with D.O.

His early EMS work included volunteer EMT, volunteer firefighter, ski patrol and lifeguard.  His medical experience includes one year internship at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo and a three year emergency medicine residency also at St. Vincent’s.  Todd was Chief Resident for the program for his final year of training and a helicopter EMS physician during his residency.  Since his residency, Todd has served as an on-scene EMS physician for Lucas County.

He is the EMS medical director for the following agencies: Lima Memorial Health System (24 agencies), ProMedica Transportation Network (associate medical director), Sylvania Township Fire Department, Springfield Township Fire Department, Richfield Township Fire Department, Maumee Fire Department and Fostoria Fire Department.

Dr. Brookens board certifications with American Board of Emergency Medicine with a subspecialty in Emergency Medical Services.  His interests are in prehospital medicine, airway emergencies, and critical care/resuscitation. His hospital affiliations are with Lima Memorial Health System, ProMedica Toledo Hospital, ProMedica Flower Hospital, and ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital.
