Bath Township Fire Department Responds to Kitchen Fire

Bath Township Fire Department responded to a 9-1-1 report of a kitchen on fire in a residence at 3833 Harding Highway, Lima, Ohio, in Bath Township at 7:49 A.M.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke in the house and were advised by 911 operators that they were on the phone with an elderly, disabled female who was in a second story bedroom, unable to exit on her own. Bath Township Fire Department personnel quickly located the female and assisted her out of the structure. She was transported to Mercy St. Rita’s by Perry Township EMS. The small kitchen fire was extinguished with minimal damage to the residence.

Two additional occupants were found to be asleep in the home and were able to exit with no injuries.

Chief Joseph Kitchen estimates the damage to be less than $1,000.00.

No fire department personnel were injured. Lima Fire Department and Perry Twp. EMS assisted at the scene of the fire.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, cooking related.

Firefighters were on the scene for about one hour.
